017 Porsche Panamera

The second-generation, all-new Porsche Panamera is revving toward its release date with new powertrains, features, and stylings. The 2017 Porsche Panamera Sedan retains all of the comfort and utility of its predecessors, while blending in a considerable amount of spice. From its wider stance, to its well-organized gearbox, to its intelligent technologies, the soon-to-be-released Panamera is nothing if not passionately styled. Read on to see what has Porsche enthusiasts across the globe so excited for the new Panamera!

New Powertrains and Handling Technology

Currently, specs are available for two Panamera trims: 4S ($99,990 starting MSRP) and Turbo ($146,900 starting MSRP). Capable of reaching 60 mph in 4.0 seconds with Sport Chrono, the 4S will feature a 440-hp 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine rated at 405 lb-ft of torque. With Sport Chrono, the range-topping Turbo is slated to hit 60 mph in a mere 3.4 seconds, courtesy of its brand-new 550-hp 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine rated 567 lb-ft of torque. What’s more, the V8 can alternate between four and eight cylinders for a fuel usage reduction of up to 30%.

Light-weight and comprised largely of aluminum, the new Panamera promises a more athletic handling profile. Drivers can expect all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung transmission for at least the 4S and Turbo trims. Like its Porsche siblings, the Panamera leaves plenty of room for customization, particularly in the performance category. Drive quality can be further enhanced with an optional three-chamber air suspension system, complete with Torque Vectoring Plus, electronic dampers, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

Refreshed Design and Features

For the 2017 model year, the Porsche Panamera gets a sporty look that coincides with the power of its advanced turbo engines. To reduce front overhang, the front wheels have been pulled forward, lengthening the wheelbase by 1.18 inches. With a lowered rear roofline, muscular shoulders, and a 911-esque light-band between the taillamps, the Panamera steals the spotlight with its sharp stylings. Inside the cabin, you’ll enjoy all of the comfort and technology features you’d expect from Porsche, as well as few new additions:

  • 12.3-inch central touchscreen display
  • Smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay)
  • Dual configurable 7-inch TFT displays
  • Optional Night Vision Assistant
  • Optional InnoDrive system (includes GPS-linked cruise control for automatic braking, downshifting, and speed adjustment during cornering)
  • Optional panorama roof
