6 Hours of Nurburgring

History of the Race

The FIA World Endurance Championship is an auto race series that features 7 long races, hence “Endurance Championship.” The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the most well-known races in the world and also the longest. The drivers must actually race for 24 hours straight. This is a test of not only physical endurance but also of mental endurance. The other 6 races last at least 6 hours and are a true test of their driving ability. Out of the race 6 titles are given out, but only 2 will be named world champions. Who will it be this year? Signs are pointing to Porsche drivers!

The Track

The 6 hour race in Germany with 17 tough corners takes place at one of the longest, most challenging, steepest, and busiest race tracks in the world. The infamous Nurburgring track will challenge all of the drivers and push them to the test.

Who to watch

Porsche drivers and recent Le Mans winners, Marc Lieb, Neel Jani, and Romain Dumas will all be the focus of this race with a serious rivalry against Audi drivers as it is all of their home turf. Marc Lieb snatched the lead and won on the final lap of the Le Mans race. He will hopefully have another show in store for us. Porsche has now secured the 18th overall victory at the 24 hour of Le Mans race.

Porsche 919 Hybrid

The drivers will be racing in a Porsche 919 Hybrid. Composite fiber construction made of carbon fibers with a honeycomb aluminum core, all together weighs about 1924 pounds. The racing car has a futurist look to it which pairs well with its game changing technology. This car is equipped with a V4 turbocharged engine and a lithium-ion battery. Goes 0-120 in 4.4 seconds and has approximately 900 horsepower. The Porsche 919 Hybrid is nothing less than a mean ultra high speed machine.
